Swim
Comments: A pretty good swim, I positioned myself further up in the pack to try and get away from people faster. It didn't work as well as what i had hoped. Part of the problem is my watch strap came lose and i couldnt get it to velcro up. What would you do differently?: I am really happy with my swim but I think it is time to start pushing speed work to see if i can't lower my times. Transition 1
Comments: I knew this was going to be slow. I had a gel, put on my biking gloves because of the longer distance. I just wanted that little bit of extra time to re-orient before heading out on the bike. What would you do differently?: Not much, this will only get faster from here. Bike
Comments: I started off slow on the bike because I have a tendancy to take off really fast and fade during the later parts of long rides. I just made sure to stay in a comfortable gear and hydrate during the first 4-5 miles. After that I cranked up my pace but the rollers started to take their toll on me after a while. What would you do differently?: Not much, just ride longer distances more often. Overall I am really happy with where my biking is. Transition 2
Comments: A good transition. First time going from bike shoes to running shoes. Took a couple extra seconds to check my socks to make sure they where not wet before switching to my running shoes. What would you do differently?: Just practice taking off my bike shoes and switching to my running shoes. Run
Comments: Not much to say here other than my running sucks. I had wanted to be closer to 12 minute miles but I just couldn't run for very long before I had to start to walk. What would you do differently?: Focus on my run for the next couple of months and build a solid running base. Post race
Warm down: Started sipping water and then moved to ultragen to try and get some calories in me. Had to lay down in the back of my car for a few minutes as I was completely drained. I started to tunnel vision a couple of times, but just kept sipping away and re-hydrating myself. Event comments: A great race by tri-sharks. You can tell they know what they are doing. I am thankfull the sun stayed behind the clouds all morning and contributed to a great day to be outside racing Last updated: 2011-05-02 12:00 AM

Normal breakfast, picked up dad and headed out to the race site. Realized I forgot my pre-swim gel in the car so just sipped some gatorade instead.
Went for a light jog to stretch out my legs and then got a little swim in to warm up the arms.
