Swim
Comments: The swim split also included stripping the wetsuit and putting on bike shoes for the 1/4 mi run to T1. My watch showed something in the low 9s as I exited the water, so I'm really pleased. I just went hard and never let go What would you do differently?: nothing Transition 1
Comments: XTERRA transitions take a bit longer....put on Camelback and gloves. I'm not coordinated enough to do this while moving. What would you do differently?: Practice putting gloves onto wet hands Bike
Comments: I spent the whole first lap getting passed, but I was able to try and reel a couple of people back in/prevent one other from passing me by a large margin. Big puddles were a lot of fun, but I need to learn to be able to ride some of those sections, as well as how to red-line some of those climbs. Oh, and I crashed 1/2 mi into the first loop. The time showed up as my bike+T2 What would you do differently?: train more on technical stuff, but then again, I just had my focus road tri for the season only 3 weeks ago Transition 2
Comments: again, took a little more time, though I won't know for sure because my bike+T2 times are together What would you do differently?: practice a bit more Run
Comments: This was my first true trail run. It started off with some easy dirt roads, then it got progressively more technical, dodging branches, etc. I was able to reel in two more competitors ahead of me who had passed me on the bike pretty early on, so from there I was kind of just running for time, as I'd been told the next guy was over a minute ahead of me. TRAIL RUNNING IS FUN. What would you do differently?: push a little harder....can't we always? Post race
Warm down: jog around a bit; watch others finish What limited your ability to perform faster: lack of MTB skill Event comments: DEFINITELY DOING MORE XTERRA! Even if I can't get on my MTB at all next year, either, I'm definitely coming back for this one. Last updated: 2011-05-03 12:00 AM

rode the course the weekend before on CX bike; rode it again the day before on my actual MTB, ran/walked part of the run course the day before
my normal backwards tri....ran probably 1 mi of the course, then biked maybe 1.5-2 mi, then swam probably 200 m when we got down to the water
