The transition area was in the grass which was drenched from the all night rainstorm. Made it very difficult to transition properly.

Learn to transition with shoes on the bike.

I still wear socks and didn't want them sopping wet so couldn't leave my shoes on the bike and had to run through transition in bike shoes, was a mess.
What would you do differently?:

Learn to ride and run without socks.
