Sunny
Total Time = 2h 15m 42s
Overall Rank = 100/130
Age Group = NF
Age Group Rank = 68/94
Pre-race routine:

yogurt b-fast and meds. tried to drink a lot of water. got there about 5am and set up area and walked transition areas and in/outs.
Event warmup:

some stretching and a few swim strokes. nervous/nauseous as always.
Swim
  • 22m 54s
  • 820 yards
  • 02m 47s / 100 yards
Comments:

never really got into a rhythmic pattern on swim. Think I maxed out at 12-15 stroked before I would switch to breast or back. Partly to check I was on course (got a little off on way back after turn) and some to catch breath. Felt REALLY slow, my time was better than I thought. I did not feel like I was going to drown, just sloppy. Those 2 weeks of not being in the pool were NOT helpful.
What would you do differently?:

better prep. need to work on sighting.
Transition 1
  • 04m 2s
Comments:

sat down to clean off feet and put on socks for cycling shoes. It makes it take a bit longer, but cannot imagine putting feet into bike on the fly.
What would you do differently?:

speed up a bit, but not like it really makes a big difference.
Bike
  • 1h 09m 3s
  • 17 miles
  • 14.77 mile/hr
Comments:

I felt good on the bike. got passed a LOT, just did not seem to have a lot in the tank. overall it went really well. I would like to have been faster, but considering that the swim was 2x+ as long as I have ever done I was ok with it.
What would you do differently?:

better training.
Transition 2
  • 02m 11s
Comments:

pretty good transition. Was fast. forgot hat, but luckily most of run was in shade.
What would you do differently?:

nothing really. long run in with bike.
Run
  • 37m 34s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 12m 05s  min/mile
Comments:

run was fastest I have done in race. I would have liked to have had more water. Had to walk at times, but tried to keep it to a minimum. There were up and down hills and walked some of them so as not to fall. was tired, could not sprint out end. used up all I had, but was not crawling. mostly in shade, so that was good. 2 turns had mat/timing chips yea!
What would you do differently?:

not much really
Post race
Warm down:

walked around , bananna, water, heed (ick) and a slice of bread. walked around. did not sit until I got to car.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

training mostly I would say.

Event comments:

VERY well run race, lots of volunteers. This was the novice race, so lots of positive feedback from all. Only unhappy with one person on bike. GOOD RACE.
