Swim
Comments: can't really comment much on ranking etc since "ALL SPORTS" used some kind of new (we could tell this because the equipment was pristine, not gnarly with lake water/stretched, etc,) timing system that was TOTALLY hosed. I normally don't wear a watch, but I'm glad I did just for a general guildeline. I wanted to finish under 2 hours and the only way to keep tabs was wearing my watch. What would you do differently?: I don't know what I would have done differently to prepare for wind gusts up to 30mph. You just put on the big girl pants and deal. Transition 1
Comments: again, no idea what the transition time was due to epic fail of ALL SPORTS timing.... What would you do differently?: nothing. Bike
What would you do differently?: I wouldn't ride any differently but if I had known the timing company wasn't up to the challenge I might have been more precise in my cyclometer reading Transition 2
Comments: T2 time included a scramble up the dry, dirt, rutted side of the dam so I walked up there so as not to turn an ankle or knee. Timing mat was at the top of the hill What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: keeping cool! in 100 degree weather! ha! but I was acclimated. What would you do differently?: not sure there was any improvement to be made given the wind, heat and placement of aid stations Post race
Event comments: This is the first time I'm raced this particular 5th anniversary event -- I've enjoyed being a volunteer the prior 4 years but thought it might be good to race where I've been training. Nobody was prepared for the horrible windy conditions that early in the morning and I think about 25 or so bailed during the swim. Last updated: 2011-05-07 12:00 AM
