Pre-race routine:

Chilled out. This was a last minute decision to race.
Event warmup:

Dynamic stretching
Swim
  • 12m 44s
  • 440 yards
  • 02m 53s / 100 yards
Comments:

Good swim. felt strong. I was actually passing peopleon the swim! Holy crap..I never pass people on the swim! I know the pace looks slow but this is from timing mat postionat this race.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe push a little harder on the swim. I'm always scared of going out too hard on the swim.
Transition 1
  • 03m 43s
Comments:

Fumbled a bit with the new aero helmet and glasses. Still struggling with getting wetsuit off. This time was average looking at AG results
What would you do differently?:

not wear the wetsuit in a sprint. RD said water temp was 66...it was not 66 more like 76.
Bike
  • 36m 56s
  • 13 miles
  • 21.12 mile/hr
Comments:

I like this bike course. the 2x over the Nocatee bridge spreads ppl out pretty good. Of course you're always going to have the drafters. But I did get some revenge...2 guys that were drafting leapforgged me a couple times, the ref finally caught them in a draft and was taking their numbers so I tucked in behind the ref and passed them. When I got in front of them it was right before the bridge, I slowed down just enough to make them slow and break their momentum coming off the down hill :)
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 2
  • 00m 57s
Comments:

not a bad t2 considering I didn't do a flying dismount
What would you do differently?:

flying dismount. can't be on a carbon tri bike in an aero helmet and NOT do a flying dismount....it's in the USAT rules somewhere :)
Run
  • 24m 48s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m  min/mile
Comments:

Throttled back to keep HR in Z2 until the turn, then let HR creep into Z3 then hit Z4 with 0.1 miles left. Saving the legs a bit. Had a 56 mile ride later that day and IM Texas in 2 weeks. No use in blowing up my legs
What would you do differently?:

Nothing this was part of my overall race strategy
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

IM Texas in 2 weeks

Event comments:

I love this race. The course is fun. great for newer traithlete but there are some fasty fast ppl that show up to race.
