Pre-race routine:

The usual oatmeal and out the door. Packed the previous night.

Event warmup:

Setup transition, got a quick jog in and then headed down for a quick swim warmup.
Swim
  • 13m 16s
  • 600 meters
  • 02m 13s / 100 meters
Comments:

I was still pretty nervous going into this swim. Was confident after last week, but the callaway race was pretty laid back with very shallow water. This was a much more aggressive start. I started off good and once I got to the first buoy, it started getting crowded. I decided to go out a little further left. Found a swimmer going about my pace and stuck on his hip. Made the last turn and was headed right into the sun. Took the turn too wide and ended up off course which cost me some time. Overall very happy with the swim. Got out of the water at a little under 12:00 it was a long run up to transition.
What would you do differently?:

I still have work today. Sighting needs work, but my swim has really come a long way.
Transition 1
  • 00m 57s
Comments:

Had a little trouble getting my helmet on but nothing too bad.
Bike
  • 43m 30s
  • 14.3 miles
  • 19.72 mile/hr
Comments:

Had a tough time getting my right foot in the shoe so I had to stop and get that on cost me some time. Bike went well. It was a little hillier than I remember. Got caught behind a pack and the ref kept coming by looking for drafting decided I didn't want any part of that and hammered to get out in front of them. Nothing really eventful on the bike. Pretty happy with it.
Transition 2
  • 01m 1s
Comments:

Good transition. On the way out, there was a 12 year old that couldn't find his rack. Spent a few seconds helping him find it, then headed out.
Run
  • 25m 35s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 15s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt pretty good on the run. KNew I had to manage the first mile in order not to be completely dead in the campgrounds. Ran the first mile in about 8:30. Was able to actually run the campground hills this year. Pretty happy with my run although I know this is where I am giving up a lot of time to everyone else in my AG.
What would you do differently?:

More run training. Need to get faster to stop giving back so much time.
Post race
Warm down:

Grabbed water and talked with everyone.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I was faster. A lot this year. Was about 9:00 faster in this race than last year. I am very happy with how everything is coming along.

Event comments:

Grat tri the parks race as usual.
