![]() Swim
Comments: Triathlon swims are crazy things! Ended up with sprained wrist, pulled shoulder and neck muscles after my wrist got tangled in the bouy line and a couple of guys swam over the top of me. Lifeguard finally got my arm free. Thanks to a fast current, I was able to salvage a decent swim time. I kept my head in the game and didn't get over distressed despite my frustraion and the pain in my shoulder. What would you do differently?: STupid tactical error. I never sight to pass that close to the buoy, but I was trying to shave some time off my swim. The Bouy line wrapped around my wrist, Garmin, and around my thumb....coudln't pull myself free...very vulnerable feeling. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: 13 seconds faster than last BFAST What would you do differently?: Run harder through transition this is free time ![]() Bike
Comments: 20 secs slower than last BFAST. was a bit uncomfortable witha a sore wrist and shoulder throbbed. Getting better a latching on to someone fast and pacing off them. What would you do differently?: Grab a harder gear every once and a while to see how it feels. Don't want to leave any more time out on the course than I have to. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Got lost in transition and couldn;t find my rack....dumb What would you do differently?: Not be dumb and remember where my rack was ![]() Run
Comments: I let the uncomfortableness of my neck and shoulder get the better of me for the first 3/4 of the race. Couldn't focus. The pain wasn't unbearable but nagging and distracting. Finally a friend passed me and I ran with them for a bit until we caught I guy in my AG. I backed off b/c I know this guy's a strong runner and didn't want him to push the pace much more. So I sat on his heel until the Garmin buzzed at 3 miles and I picked up the pace and passed him, running strong towards the finish before he could respond....beat him by 2 seconds. What would you do differently?: Caffeine in T2 to help me focus on the run ![]() Post race
Warm down: Med tent to have my shoulder looked at. A bit swollen and some localized pain, but I'll live. What limited your ability to perform faster: Poor tactical decision at the beginning of the race. I never swim close to turn bouys. Will not make that mistake again. Event comments: I love this course. Last updated: 2011-05-08 12:00 AM

Drank an Ensure approx 1 hour b4 race then a gel 15 minutes prior to race start.
Swam out to last bouy and back to check swim exit for sloops and sandbars. Did the same for the first bouy. then did some dynamic stretching.
