Comments: Not as good as I hoped, but I started in the back behind everyone, then positioned myself on the inside so I had a clear shot to the first buoy. was able to get in front of my wave, but my breathing & strokes weren't as long and strong as I'd hoped. Shows my lack of conditioning...oh well. What would you do differently?: Swim more during training. That was also my first OWS of the year, so maybe do a couple more of those pre-race. Transition 1
Comments: Putting my socks & shoes on took the longest, but at least I didn't have to put clothes on over a bathing suit! What would you do differently?: Start training without socks? Bike
Comments: my bike time is inaccurate due to the fact i had a flat tire the last 3 miles. so the last 3 miles, i was going half as fast as i was the rest of the bike. sucks, but it'd be nice to see what my actual time would be with my pace. What would you do differently?: take a spare tube with me! i don't know how to change a tire and didn't have an extra one with me...so my fault for not being #1 in my AG Transition 2
Comments: no need to change shoes, so i had a good transition. What would you do differently?: i need to learn to dismount my bike while its moving. Run
Comments: this was the only part of the whole race where there were mile markers. only one water station partway through mile two, which i wish would've been closer to mile 1. What would you do differently?: HTFU! it was only my 3rd time running since being released by the doctor to run. and for that, i am happy with my time Post race
Warm down: stretched a little. then went fishing :) What limited your ability to perform faster: a flat tire...and not enough training on the run Event comments: for the entry cost, the race was average. it would've been nice to have more signage, LOTS MORE SIGNAGE. i spent 10 minutes pre-race looking for the parking lot, had no idea what mile I was on during the bike, and the signage for the turns was just ok. if this was the first year for the race, then i'd say it was on par. hopefully it can be a little more organized next year. Eat a balance bar & my yogurt. Drink a good amount of water before the race. Make sure I use the restroom before leaving the house. Visualize the race on the drive to the event site.
Not much, did a little stretching for my hamstrings & quads. Swam two laps out and back to a buoy.
