Swim
Comments: Below average swim. Was in a bad position at the start. Got hit over the head about 4 times. Ws inside the first buoy and had to fight my way in to get around. After that buoy, it was a little better. Found some feet to follow, but lost them at the 2nd bouy turn. Then as I was coming in, I must have veered a little off course, because I found myself swimming under he intermediate bouy between the last turn buoy and the finish. Swallowed a mouth full of water, before having to gather my composure. Just didn;t feel real comfortable in the water this day. Not sure why?? What would you do differently?: Needed to start a little more wide right to make an easy turn at the first buoy and avoid contact as much as possible. Transition 1
Comments: Not bad except I didn't like my placement in transition. As I was about to head down the "aisle" there were like 4 guys coming down shoulder to shoulder, so I had to actually stop and let them go by. Cost me a few seconds, I guess. Other than that, not bad. What would you do differently?: Still want to learn to jump on bike. Bike
Comments: Prety good bike. While I didn;t check, I think was around 23 mph average coming into the hilly section. Usually I am around low 22's. Was feeling really good. I guess I went a little bit slower on the hills though because I only bettered my bike time by about 20 seconds. But, hey, I better my bike time:) What would you do differently?: Nada, however, every race I seem to get stuck in the last 1/4 mile or so behind someone lolly gagging it into T2. I really have to slow up to not draft off them. Passing would be really difficult in the last 1/4 mile as there are a lot of turns and the roads are a bit narrower. Transition 2
Comments: Came in off the bike flying as I actually did pass the girl (that was cruising in the last 1/4 mile) as we were dismounting, so that momentum carried me into my run with bike. Socks were not cooperative, so that took a bit more time than usual. Slowest T2 time yet in this series. Fastest=1:03, so there's 11 seconds right there. Wore my T7 racers for the first time in a race, so wanted to make sure socks were on good as to not get a blister. What would you do differently?: Get used to running in my flats with no socks. That would have saved me 10 secs easily. Run
Comments: Ran in flats for the first time in a race. Not my best run in the series, but wasn;t too bad. I think this was the hottest of the 4 so far, so that probably had something to do with it. Also, need to get used to running the flats. Very comfortable. Used my superfeet insoles and they worked well. NO planter fasciaitis at all. The shoes do slightly change my gait, so just need to get used to wearing them. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Nursing injuries since last Feb. Slowly geting back into a normal run trainign schedule. Trying to be gradual so I don'y have something flare up again. My run is not where it needs to be, but I'm going to try to up the training a little bit before this next race to see if I can't send the series off with a PR on the run. Also, 2of the last 3-4 weeks I was sick and had virtually no training. Event comments: I like this race. Small local race. Not a lot of frills, but overall, pretty good. Will probably do it again next year if the schedule allows. Last updated: 2011-05-09 12:00 AM
