Pre-race routine:

Race didn't start until 8a and was just a short shuttle ride from the hotel. So, I was able to be up early enough to have coffee and yogurt, as well as do a bit of stretching.
Event warmup:

None. Cold and windy, so stayed inside until about 10 min to start time.

Comments:

I started very conservatively and still managed to maintain a good pace. I felt as if I could have gone faster, but I held back. Maybe I should have. As has been my experience in the past, when I reached the time of my longest training run (~3:30), I quickly started to tire. Cardio was fine. But legs started to give out. Last 5 miles got progessively more difficult. I really would have liked to have seen a 4:15 or 4:10, but I couldn't keep pushing.
What would you do differently?:

I really need to get a 4-hour effort in during training. But I got so sidetracked with stupid achilles and shin stuff that I had to forego a couple of the longer planned runs. Maybe next time...if there is a next time.
Post race
Warm down:

Went inside to sit awhile. Waited for friends to finish. Got something to eat. Then, headed back to the hotel to shower and get on the road for home.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training that got sidetracked.

This is a really nice, well organized marathon on a great course. I highly recommend it.

Course: Pleasant rolling course in and around Huntsville. I was worried it might be hilly compared to what I am used to, but it was perfect, and easier than Blues in Jackson.
