Swim
Comments: Finally, did not come out like I had to win the swim. I went at a moderate pace and increased after I got to clear water (after first lane which was split). This was a good (not great)swim in this pool for 500m and now feel I have the disipline to NOT go all out in the first 100m. Only crappy thing is that this is DAG chip timed so since they did not see my number on my right arm exiting, they did not record my swim time in the results (this is based on my Garmin with is dead on as I stopped it the second I got to the top of the ladder). What would you do differently?: Not a thing.....Finally did what I kept telling myself to do and it paid off. Transition 1
Comments: Well, I said it was cold so I thought drying off would assist in keeping me somewhat warm. When setting up trasition, I debated wearing arm warmers or a long sleeve compression shirt. Well, in the heat (or cold) of the moment, I decided on nothing but seemed to take my time getting my bike shoes (and socks) on. This will yet again come back to haunt me... What would you do differently?: Work on trasitions.....This is the main focus for next year as I am loosing too much time to taking too much time. Bike
Comments: This time reflects both of my transitions (as you can tell, the transitions killed me). Garmin time is 57:23:26 at 21.21 mph avg. for the full course. So as you might gather, I am pissed off about the transitions (all waisted time). Overall, the course was laid out nice and was on newly paved roads. That made for a good ride all around. Earlier in the week had my Aero Base bars and Bar end shifters put on and they worked perfectly. I think this helped me as I could final stay aero the entire time. However, the avg. speed is a work in progress and will be a main focus next year. Oh, and it was cold. Since I went with Tri Suit and nothing else, I was very cold and just kept pedaling... What would you do differently?: Overall, I am happy with the ride. Still need to put in Base work and get more acutal road work in. I think that will help me alot for next year. Transition 2
Comments: Overall, same issue as T1. Just took my sweet ass time and paid for it. Granted, everthing else was fine (getting off the bike, racking it, getting shoes off) but was just slow due to the lack of feeling in my hands, arms, face and toes... What would you do differently?: Not take my sweet ass time.... Run
Comments: Best run I have had at this race, let alone at this distance and on this trail. This is something that I worked on from the last race and knew that this could be where time could be made up. I am starting to like running and am seeing the results. What would you do differently?: Not a thing....Just need to keep this up for next year and make some gains that can be maintained all year. Post race
Warm down: Crossed the line, grabbed some water and a quick snack and tried to catch my breath. I could tell what kind of effort I put in as I thought I was going to pass out for a few seconds once I crossed the line. However, recovered quickly and went to look for the family..... What limited your ability to perform faster: Transitions......Come to find out, I would have place 10 spots higher had I not screwed around in Transition. This would have put me on the podium to end the year. I seriously am pissed off about this and will NOT make this an issue again. Event comments: It was better than the Spring Tri as far as organization is concerned. They did alot of things in relation to the course as well to make it challenging and keep the traffic moving. I think they just needed more volunteers but with the way the weather was, they probably did the best they could. All in all, it was a good race and will do this again as it will fit in well when I gratuate to the Oly. distance next season. Last updated: 2011-05-13 12:00 AM

Woke up at 0430a and did the norm....Bowl of Oatmeal, cup of Green Tea and a Granola Bar. I was not quite sure of what to think when I checked the weather and it was only 38 degrees outside. They were also predicting the temp to be colder by a few degrees as the morning went on. Of course, this is the day they needed to be correct. Packed the care and was off by 0600a in the cold, early morning
Decided against any warm-up.....I could have done the swim like I normally do but then would have been shivering for a half hour. I elected to do all my shivering on the Bike instead (I kid but yes, it was chilly).
