Run
Comments: I felt pretty good for the first half, but fell apart during the second. Once I hit the hill you practically had to climb up, I took a long walking break. Also, I got DIRTY! The dirt and dust that all the runners and wind kicked up made me about 5 shades darker after the race. What would you do differently?: Sleep about a half hour longer :) I made it up to the site just as the half marathoners were taking off (one hour before the start of the 10k). Other than that, I'm glad I took it easy for this race. I just wasn't ready to push. Post race
Warm down: Walked around, drank water, ate a banana, and took off home. What limited your ability to perform faster: I had been at sea level for the previous three weeks prior to this race, and I was not ready to run at a high elevation again, so I just kept things easy as much as I could. I also had a nagging soreness in my left calf which didn't make things easy. Event comments: Even if I hadn't been used to sea level, this still would have been an very difficult race for me. It was good to get some hard hills and trail running in. It was a well-staffed event and a beautiful course, even if I did have to shower multiple times to get all the dirt off me later :) Last updated: 2011-05-14 12:00 AM

Ate a small greek yogurt and granola. Drank some OJ while driving to the Caldera.
Ran up the hill for maybe 1/2 mile, 30 min before the start of the race.
