Swim
Comments: Left the beach a few second late because I wanted to avoid the insanity. Stayed left for the same reason and it seemed to work out for me. I had planned on about 11 minutes and beat that handily. Wow, this is starting out better than I hoped. What would you do differently?: Keep practicing the swim, I think I'm getting better. Transition 1
Comments: No bike shoes meant no struggle with anything clip related. Struggled to get my shoes, helmet and shirt on. The helmet debacle cost me a few seconds, but it was small compared to everything else that was not working well. What would you do differently?: Practice like crazy on T1. Bike
Comments: Not bad at all, caught a few from my group as well as a few from the group ahead of me. I was also passed by a couple from the ladies that went after me. I'm not complaining at all, they did an awesome job and it was impressive to see. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 2
Comments: Went well, everything came off fine, everything (visor) went on well. What would you do differently?: Practice a whole lot of bricks from now on. This is where it started going south. Run
Comments: Wow, this was brutal. I need to get my run up to snuff or I will always be at the rear of these things. What would you do differently?: Practice, practice, practice. More bricks will help as well as a little bit of tough. Post race
Warm down: Fruit, water, smoothie and walk around a bit. What limited your ability to perform faster: Practice Event comments: This is the best race I've ever done. It is also the only race I've ever done, so there you go. I will do this race again, how can you beat the hometown race? Last updated: 2011-05-16 12:00 AM

Pasta dinner at Farlow's for packet pickup. Bagel for breakfast. Since this is at home, I left the house at 6:15 and was getting marked by 6:30. Setup the bike and T area pretty quickly, then went back through everything to make sure it was ready.
None, walked down to the beach and waited for the race to start. I figured I'd get warm enough, since it was probably 80+ at 7:30 am.
