Swim
Comments: I came out of the water 5th in my class which is really amazing. I had a huge panic attack in the 1st 200 meters. I almost quit and swam back to shore. I really freaked out and have no idea why. I got settled and swam much slower and just eased into it. Got my form back but now had to swim by alot of breast strokers...got kicked a little and had to swim around a lot of swimmers but generally it was a good swim after that. What would you do differently?: My swim is my weakest event so I need to just get use to people around and deal with the emotions as they come. Settle down and just swim within my ability. Transition 1
Comments: I am very happy with my transitions. What would you do differently?: Cover my stuff if it looks like it is going to rain.... Bike
Comments: Great ride even though I was freezing on the bike for the first 15 mins. The road was wet so I had to be careful of the turns. This really is a great course. I would love to see how I do on this next year. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 2
Comments: Great transition. Happy with that. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: See above What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
Warm down: Just met my wife to be and my son to be and enjoyed being with them. This is the first time they have been able to see me compete so that was cool. Waited around forever to see if I finished in the top three. when they announced that I took 2nd, I was happy but then when I saw the unoffical times I noticed that the guy that took 1st had a 5 minute 3/4 mile swim-an obvious mistake. The offical results corrected that error and I took first. Very cool! Not that you got anything for finishing on the podium, but still I am very blessed to have taken 1st in my class. God is good-all the time! Event comments: Good race management. I will do this one again. Just wish that the podium finishers got something other than a water bottle and a t-shirt.....that being said I am still thankful for the water bottle and t-shirt! Last updated: 2011-05-17 12:00 AM

This was my first "hotel" Tri so I tried to keep it the same as at home. I have a BF of coffee and a bagel and then sipped Gator Aid prior to the start which would turn out to be important-and not for the reasons you might think. There was rain and thunderstorms in the forecast. Thank God we got the rain and not the thunder and lightning. We even got some hail apperently....I was in the water and didnt notice that.
I got to transition early and got a great spot to the right of the bike and run exit. I really can't understand why people show up to a race at the last minute and freak out that they cant find a good spot. Needless to say I had to wait awhile in the cold-and got really cold. So much so I put my wetsuit on early just to stay warm. I went to the water and swam a little bit about 30 mins before my wave start time. Remember the Gator Aid? That helped me warm up quite a bit in the wetsuit....no one was around so its only slightly gross-but it works.
