Run
Comments: Ran the entire way - only walked to stop and get water at a couple of the aid stations. GPS unit wouldn't register, so I paced myself by getting to mile 1 at 12:30 min mile and keeping heart rate similar for the rest of the race. Very hot, and h.r. that high for that long was a challenge, but legs felt good so kept pushing the pace. What would you do differently?: Get my blankety blank GPS to work. Take more Endurolytes. This is a HOT race. Post race
Warm down: Walked to post-race party. Had Gatorade and a banana. Met with friendly BT folks and chatted with them for a while. What limited your ability to perform faster: HEAT. It's hotter than hell at this race every year. No shade. Brutal. Otherwise, training to run at higher h.r. might help. Event comments: Wish CCC would crack down on strollers at the race and do a better job of organizing runners / walkers based on estimated completion time. Also need more port-o-lets. Woke up 3 hours prior to race. 1 cup coffee. 1/2 protein bar in the car. Some heed water. Happy mental thoughts.
Stretching and ran almost a mile - light jog. Desperate, futile search for port-o-let with short line.
