Swim
Comments: A wetsuit swim with a light current! Also no bouys to go around. I could not of asked for better conditions for me to have a good swim. All the extra work at the pool might have helped. Although it was a very large wave, I didn't get knocked around to much which really helped my frame on mind for the rest of the day. What would you do differently?: I improved on my last 1.2 mile swim by over 15 minutes? Transition 1
Comments: Long run from swim finish on course asphfalt to transition added to the degree of dificulty. Used the volunteers to help get the suit off. A nice little feature I had never seen. Because I decided to break in a new pair of shoes 2 weeks ago, I still have some pritty bad blisters which made me decide to wear socks. Took a little extra time with that. What would you do differently?: No blisters! Bike
Comments: A few roller which made it fun and always lots of riders around which kept the ride from being so boring. At about 30 miles the battery on the Garmin goes low and into battery saving mode, so I lost my heart rate info for which I had used in my training. Felt like I'd be ok on the bike, but new I would miss having the info on the run. About the same time the watch goes, I feel a snap under my elbow. The arm brace on my earo bar is almost snapped in half. So needless to say, the last 25 miles was not very comfortable. Even with that, I am not unhappy with the result What would you do differently?: Do more long rides during training. Transition 2
Comments: A little trouble getting the shoes on without destroying the blisters on the back of my feet. With that I still thought I had a better time. What would you do differently?: No Blisters! Run
Comments: Got out of T2 feeling ok.Because my watch had gone into battery saving mode, it was still keeping time, so by the time I had I figured I had 2 hours and 15 min to reach my race goal of 5:45. Then the sun came out. What was an overcast day in the low 80's, became a sunny day in the high 80's and HUMID. I still felt like 2 hours was possible, but after the first couple of miles when it bacame evident there would be very little shade, I realised hanging on to the finish was going to be good enough. I walked through the aid stations and drank lots of water and iced myself. Not having the heart rate info was not an issue as I probobly did not want to know what it said. It was a hard run through streets of lots of enouraging people. What would you do differently?: Spent more time in T2 doing a rain dance. Post race
Warm down: Kiss the wife, walk around mubbling to myself about each part of the body that hurts, light stretch, pizza and a beer. What limited your ability to perform faster: Got the gift of planters frustatitis 6 weeks before the race so I did not have my normal running legs under me. Also buying new barefoot running shoes so close to the race was not such a good idea, but as hot as iot got, I'm glad I had socks on. The bike issue probobly cost me some time, but I need to ride more, because ultimately that's where I lose a lot of time and it effects my legs on the run. Event comments: Very well run race. All the volunteers were great. The community really came out to support this thing. The finish definately had a downtown festival feel. Last updated: 2011-05-19 12:00 AM

Woke @4;30 and out of hotel by 5. Stopped for a cup of the worst coffee ever had not made by myself. Choked down a power bar and banana on the way.
Found a close parking spot to transition and off to the race I went.
The norm of light stretches while standing in line for the potty.
