Swim
Comments: Swim went well, started a little slow and picked it up over the swim. I was significantly faster this year, about 6 minutes faster over the same course than last year. What would you do differently?: Push it a little harder earlier on. Transition 1
Comments: Long run to my transition spot, but quick out once I was at my bike. Bike
Comments: Bike started well, about 10 miles in I started to feel weak. I couldn't figure it out as my nutrition was on and it was still early in the day. Started to experience the first signs of GI distress. I would later figure out that I was suffering from some food poisoning, both myself and my son were affected by it. Unfortunately it would have an impact on the day. I wanted to average 21 MPH and felt confident I could do this, but I was only able to maintain 20 MPH on the day. I was able to finish 16 seconds faster than last year:) What would you do differently?: Not eat pulled pork the night before a race:) Transition 2
Comments: Happy with this transition. Got off the bike and headed for the nearest port-o-john:) Run
Comments: First two minutes off the run were in the rest room. Obviously had an impact on my time. Feeling really spent by this point today's run was very challenging for me. I was hoping to around 46-48 minutes today, this was not in the cards. After about 4 miles into the run I felt a little better and was able to pick up the pace. In the first 4 miles I had to walk a few time to prevent a potentially ugly situation. I was really happy to see the finish line. What would you do differently?: Not much else I could do today beyond survive the day. Post race
Warm down: Got some post race food and went to pick up my son for the kids race. This is when I learned that my other son was suffering from the what was ailing me all day. Best part of the day was participating in the kids event with my son. This made the day for me. Event comments: Good race, lots of support and good post race events. Last updated: 2011-05-19 12:00 AM

Got up early and hit the road. I was rewarded with a rock star parking spot right near the transition area. Hit the port-o-john more than usual at first I attributed this to pre race nerves, but this would later turn out to not be the case.
Got transition area set up and got about 200 yards of swimming in prior to the start.
