Total Time = 1h 05m 42s
Overall Rank = /
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 3/28
Pre-race routine:

Woke up early & had oatmeal & a smoothie. Drank water.
Event warmup:

Road my bike to race (1 mile from house) to wake up the legs. After picking up chip and setting up transition I ran on the beach about a half mile, did some stretching and then swam out and back near the starting line.
Swim
  • 07m 39s
  • 440 yards
  • 01m 44s / 100 yards
Comments:

Wave was large and included mens age groupers too.
What would you do differently?:

I probably could swim a little faster, especially on the way in, but I was trying to conserve energy so I slowed down and tried to catch waves in.
Transition 1
  • 02m 10s
Comments:

I don't do the jump on the bike thing, doesn't work for me.

On the way in I slowed to give encouragement to a friend in the wave before me, probably lost a few seconds there.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 28m 9s
  • 10.1 miles
  • 21.53 mile/hr
Comments:

I went out a little to hard in the first few miles- I was really excited to be racing on my new bike. Turns out lots of people had the same new bike!!
What would you do differently?:

Regulate my pace a little better, need to work on the stupid U turns since all the races down here seem to have them.
Transition 2
  • 01m 3s
Comments:

There was no dismount line and there's a turn before the transition area so I ended up stopping very suddenly, wasn't planning on taking feet out anyway because pavement in park is hardfor feet.
Run
  • 26m 43s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 37s  min/mile
Comments:

I was hurtin' and my pace was a little slower, probably because I burned too many matches on the bike. But I'm not a fast runner anyway. Maybe someday, tho!

Got blisters on feet that bled, had to run thru the pain.....
What would you do differently?:

do more hard brick workouts, more vaseline in shoes (wore a different model shoe than last year)
Post race
Warm down:

walk aroud park, shower off

What limited your ability to perform faster:

out of gas on the run

Event comments:

People were very disrespectful to the slower competitors in the later waves, going in the transition area before the last people started the run, and driving on the run course in the park. The volunteers tried to get people out of the transition area but they didn't listen.
