Pre-race routine:

We arrived well before the race start (90+ minutes) which gave us the chance to take our time at transition and to relax a little bit. The weather was cool at first, but once the sun came out, it started to warm up significantly.

What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I think that the pace through the first part of the duathlon was right where I wanted to be.

During the 3rd lap, my aerobar loosened up and just kept getting worse. I rode low on my bars for a little bit, but it probably impacted me a little bit.

Need to bring my speed laces next time. Stopping to tie them took too much time.

The run was good and I felt very comfortable with my pace/ time. I felt like I pushed myself sufficiently.

Event comments:

Overall a great race. Too bad about the water, but the organizers did a great job of putting on a good race in spite of this. Looking forward to my next race!

Course: A very quick 2 miles. I tried to move my way up in the group a little. There was a slight hill before the first mile. My first split was about a 7:15 or so, which I maintained through the second.

Course: This was a 3 lap course that was completely closed. I really tried to put the hammer down on the first lap, maybe a little too much. I eased off just a touch towards the end.
