Run
Comments: I went out hard and kept up the tempo. I was very pleased with my pace. What surprised me was how many of the other 30-39 men were going just as fast. What would you do differently?: nothing Transition 1
Comments: Everything went smoothly. Wasted 5 sec trying to clip in. What would you do differently?: not much. Bike
Comments: The wind gusts were so strong that I struggled to stay in the aerobard for the first 10km. My aerodisk kept getting blown to the side. What would you do differently?: Practice my bike handling in the wind more. Transition 2
Comments: Measured myself using my watch What would you do differently?: no much Run
Comments: Decent run but I felt tired and slow. My heart had trouble calming down during the 1st two km. I could have run the last 2km faster but wimped out. What would you do differently?: train more? Post race
Warm down: Pulled pork sandwich andpepsi. Mmmmmm. What limited your ability to perform faster: wind Event comments: Great race. I imporved by over last year's result by more than 10min. What surprised me was the quality of competition. Last year my 1:32 would have placed me in the top 25% - this year I was mid-pack. I guess I have to keep training harder. Left the wife and kids at home and went on my own. Minimalistic approach - just took the gear I needed. Had a Tim Hortons breakfast.
None - unless you count checking out the pre-race pace booty as a warm up.
