Pre-race routine:

Was up at 5am. Had usual breakfast, took our time getting ready. Got to the race site about 7:30 - race started at 8:30.
Event warmup:

Went for a 3-4 min run before the race meeting and then another 3-4 min run after the meeting. Should have done a bit more.
Run
  • 25m 27s
  • 5.6 kms
  • 04m 32s  min/km
Comments:

Ran at a good pace - comfortably hard.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 1
  • 00m 35s
Comments:

Good transition, got my helmet on smoothly, grabbed my bike and took off. The time is just a guess, I calculated about 1:10 between T1 and T2. Got to the mount line and got a good push off. Getting my shoes on went well and I didn't lose any time to the person that left the mount line right in front of me.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 32m 32s
  • 19.52 kms
  • 36.00 km/hr
Comments:

Felt great right from the start. Passed a ton of people, moved up about 25 places overall. Was aiming for 220-230 watts and was right around that. 219 avg watts, 234 NP.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe go a little bit harder.
Transition 2
  • 00m 35s
Comments:

Again, time is a guess. Was in and out pretty quick.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 12m 44s
  • 2.8 kms

Comments:

Just went as hard as I could. Unfortunately I was a bit in no mans land. The group in front of me was about 250m in front and I wasn't making up any ground at all. There wasn't anyone too close to me behind me at the start either. On the hill of the dirt road, a volunteer told me someone was coming up behind me. I took a peek and saw him about 30 feet back. I just went all out. Coming up on the last turn, I could see someone was about 10 feet back from me. The guy caught me in the parking lot about 15 seconds from the end - *sigh*.
What would you do differently?:

Be about 4 seconds faster. :)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I'm happy with pretty much everything.
