Pre-race routine:

Ate oatmeal, blueberries, and a bagel. Also had a gel with caffeine at the race site. I got up at 4:30 and I was sleepy.
Event warmup:

Rode bike and set gears. Jogged down hill and back. Swam 100 meters.

I like open water swims. I couldn't get the rhythm of turning and pushing off the wall down.

Practice pushing off the wall in the pool.

Discombobulated!!! Couldn't get my Garmin on. The pedal of the bike hung on the rack. I left my sunglasses in my bag and got them......UGH!

Be more vigilant and AWAKE when setting up!

This is a great race for a great cause. It makes a great first race for anyone. I especially appreciate the cause it supports.
