Swim
Comments: I was dead last, except for a guy who was rescued. I was with 2 other people until the last 1/3 of the race. This was not a suprise for me since I knew my swimming abilities were bad, but I had hoped there would be one or two others who would challenge me for last place in this portion or the tri. Also, showed up at the race with only 1 contact. Oh well, I decided to take the glass 1/2 full attitude, better one than none. What would you do differently?: I need to practice. My goal is to get to an ability where I can begin to practice with a masters team this winter. I need to do more OWS. Transition 1
Comments: I was so tired from the swim that this was actually a better T1 time than I thought I'd have. I used the non-stick on my arms and legs and it really helped me to peel off the wetsuit like a banana. What would you do differently?: Nothing. My transition area set up worked great for me. Of course it was not difficult to find my bike, but I did beat one person who finished the swim out of the transition area. Bike
Comments: I used up too much energy on the swim and it took me until around mile 7 to get my legs and breathing back. Good news is that I was able to pass people on the downhills to move up alittle. What would you do differently?: Become a better swimmer and practice bricks with a swim followed by a run. Transition 2
Comments: I was satisfied with my transition time. I had my running shoes with the tongues out and laces loose so it was just a matter of changing shoes and taking off helmet. Put race belt and watch on as I jogged to exit transition. What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: I felt like I was finally recovered from the dreaded swim. I paced myself right and was able to pick it up at the end. Passed 5 people and no one passed me. What would you do differently?: Again, work on swim so it doesn't put me at such a disadvantage. Post race
Warm down: hydrated, put on water proof jacket, walked around with smile on my face Event comments: I would like to do this race again next year. It's a good race for a beginner triathlete and this was my first race. Last updated: 2011-05-28 12:00 AM
