Pre-race routine:

We got in late the night before, but rolled out of bed and went anyway. Got there ~8:15 and got last parking spot in lot. Registered, restroom stop, and then waited for start.

Didn't warm-up other than walking back and forth to the car.

Comments:

Glad I went to this one. It was fun. I knew the first mile was downhill, so I tried to just run smoothly. It was muggy (fog hadn't burned off). There was water at the turnaround at Cold Storage Beach, but nowhere else. I might have considered carrying water if I had known that. I was happy with my overall effort. The last mile was uphill into the wind.
What would you do differently?:

Possibly carry water, pre-register

Warm down:

Walked out to overlook behind the lighthouse. Stretched there on the observation deck and then walked back.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Just raced Corporate Challenge earlier in the week and being up til 2am the night before!

Event comments:

I enjoyed this race. The course is challenging. Also, the walkers had their own race as they didn't do the dogleg out to Coast Guard Beach. That made the finish times fairly close (they walked ~4 miles). The post race festivities were fun - they had oranges/bananas and a bunch of different kinds of cookies. The only awards were overall and then first in each age group, but they had a whole bunch of raffle prizes. There were gift certificates to various local restaurants, etc. I won a $15 GC to Road ID. I will definitely be back next year if we're here that weekend!

Course: Straight out from lighthouse out Highland Rd/Pond Rd to Cold Storage Beach. Turnaround in parking lot, back to road to Coast Guard Beach, Turnaround in parking lot and back to lighthouse. Out and back so what goes up must come down!
