Swim
Comments: Felt really good at first, I started 3rd out of the 6 of us. Caught up to 2nd the first length and decided to pass on the way back midway. Turns out that takes a lot of energy and I struggled the rest. Taking longer at each wall for some quick breaths, I let two people pass me at the walls. Was thinking of 1:55 pace for yards so I guess 2:02 pace isn't that bad not sure of the conversion really. What would you do differently?: Better conditioning is all I think I can do. Everything felt fine just tired. Transition 1
Comments: Again had some first time mistakes here. Ran to transition and put on helmet and glasses, strapped up. Reached down for my tri top and had a "wait a minute" moment. Took off helmet/glasses and struggled with tri top as it was wet from rain and I was just out of the pool. No socks on, shoes were a bit hard to get on while wet. Did a stop running, lift leg over mount. What would you do differently?: Maybe dry feet, don't leave shirt out to get rained on. Dry body off? Learn to have a running mount or leave shoes attached and learn that? Bike
Comments: Bike felt fine, other than being super cold and leg muscles taking some time to warm up. Still was rough with the cold/rain. Passed a few people and a few passed me, really liked going fast down the hills was a lot of fun. Time is pretty much what I expected from my rides recently. What would you do differently?: Work more on hills so it is not so brutal. Maybe drink more, not sure how much really to drink. I think I took 3 sips during. Transition 2
Comments: Wow, I have never done a brick before and my legs felt a combination of numbness/jello. So I walked bike to transition. Oh yea and I tried to do the whole feet on top of shoes before I dismounted but I could only get as far as unstrapped. Shoes were so soaked that I ended up clicking out when I tried to take my foot out so I just coasted like that. Attempted to dry feet off to put socks on, but gave up as towel was pretty wet so just rolled them on which worked just fine. Need to put back on my quick laces or just get faster at tying my shoe laces. What would you do differently?: More conditioning I guess, get my legs more in shape so they work correctly after I get off the bike. Run
Comments: Started to feel my feet about a mile and half in. I was trying to keep my pace under 10m/mile and turns out I did that and more. I went in expecting to run 10 walk 1, but instead did not stop and felt pretty much fine. I mistook where the finish was and started my so called kick a bit early only to find out I still had another 400m around a track to go. Oh well it's not like I was really moving anyway hehe. What would you do differently?: Nothing much here, happy with where I was at considering. Post race
Warm down: Walked around some? What limited your ability to perform faster: Injury 6mo ago, began training again in April. Should have kept up with swimming and biking, but not being able to run I just made excuses to skip workouts, oh well heh. Event comments: Looking forward to doing this again next year as a benchmark. Should be interesting to see what I can do with a full year of training and no injury. *knock on wood* Last updated: 2011-05-31 12:00 AM

Had a homemade smoothie, bananas, strawberries, OJ, yogurt around 6:15a. Got to race site about 7:25a and setup bike/transition. Checked out the pool and confirmed wave/lane assignment.
Was in wave #3 and before it all started event director said we would have 10 minutes between waves to warmup. Turns out I got in the water and only had time for 100M, looked up and everyone was watching/waiting on me. Could have just been first time jitters thinking that, but 30 seconds later we were off!
