Swim
Comments: Just not a strong swim. I think the wetsuit changed my body position and I really never got the groove I usually fall into....the swim is usually one of my better events and I placed 79th. I know I could have done better. What would you do differently?: I had to wear the wetsuit as it was chilly. That helped protect me from the cold but I think it changed my body position. I need to get a true 'swim suit' and then practice in it. Transition 1
Comments: Ok transition. I wasn't really pushing hard as normal here. I think my focus was just on getting going and since I had some training issues mentally I took a few more seconds than usual. Of course, getting out of the wetsuit had something to do with this as well. What would you do differently?: Not much. It was below average for me but I think it had to do with the wetsuit removal. I was 43rd fastest @ 1:50. Would like to be more in the 1:00 time frame. Bike
Comments: This course is a butt kicker. Very hilly. It turned out to be my best overall event finishing 59th. I don't ride hills too much so it definitely tends to be my achilles heal. But I was happy with the results overall. I ended up just 12 minutes from finishing in the top 3 in my age group. That's a pretty good chunk of time but it's a goal to set for next year. If I can take off 5-8 minutes I can finish in top 5-10 for sure. What would you do differently?: Train on hills. That's what has to happen. Transition 2
Comments: Meh. Another below average transition. 1:10 was only good enough for 83rd. I was coasting I think. What would you do differently?: Go faster. Run
Comments: Ok, a sub 8 minute mile felt pretty good for not training much in May. I was satisfied. What would you do differently?: Nothing. I did as best as I could on the run. Even sprinted the end and passed a younger lady. The announcer made a point to call out that I was passing a girl. It was pretty funny. Post race
Warm down: Walked around and drank some h2o. What limited your ability to perform faster: My training in May was very limited due to a multi-week sickness and a family vacation. Event comments: CGI really does a great job and the park at Black Bear is just beautiful. Great place to bring the family. Next year I do the Oly!! Last updated: 2011-06-01 12:00 AM

Not too much...had changed from the Oly to the Sprint due to some training issues in May that held me back from getting in the volume I needed. So, I really just woke up, ate a bit and hit the road to the race site with my friend Kevin. We stayed local. Really nice state park. Just beautiful.
Walked to the swim...got in and tested out the water. Felt pretty good. It was cool so I decided to wear the wetsuit. I don't swim in one very much (re: not at all..) so I think this impacted my slower than average swim.
