Swim
Comments: Swim was interesting. Started in the "all women" wave which was the 3rd wave. I started near the front, but there were some aggressive women so I let them line up ahead of me prior to the start. When we started I was amazed by all the contact. Many of these women that wanted to start at the front should not have been there. There was tons of contact (reminded me of IMFL) but I just kept my head down and swam through it. Didn't take long and I had clear water. But soon caught up to the previous wave(s) so didn't have clear water for long. Rounding the first buoy there was a strong smell of dead fish. Yuck! Also rounding the first buoy I noticed waves. Oh well, I figured they would help push us into shore after the next turn. Nope...quickly figured out the waves were from a few boats going by. Just kept my stroke and followed another female (relay) swimmer ahead of me. Felt good the whole way, not really tired when I hit shore. Maybe I should have pushed it a little more???? What would you do differently?: Maybe start off a little faster and push the pace. Transition 1
Comments: Stayed calm and didn't rush - obviously. Probably should have gone a little faster. Decided to wear socks due to heat. Bike
Comments: The last two races (sprints) I have not used my bike comp or my watch, just went on how it felt. Today I wanted to use the comp. Computer was not working and I couldn't figure it out. Oh well. The beg of bike felt good and strong. About 1/2 way wasn't feeling so great, not bad just not so great. So just enjoyed the course...it was pretty. Coming back to transition there was no one at the final turn. We (about 4 of us) turn and bam there are runners. We have to cross over this ditch and jump the curb to the pavement to get back to the bike section. I just get off my bike and run it in. Transition 2
Comments: It was hot by T2. Actually changed to a pair of dry socks. Felt good with dry socks to start the run. Run
Comments: I am really disappointed with this run. If I factor in the bathroom stop time I still get a poor run :( I can talk about the heat because it was hot, but the truth is I need to run more! The aid station around mile 4 was out of water when I hit it. I think that threw a lot of us, we needed it. Unfortunately I was dependent on the aid stations since I left my run water bottle in the car and did not want the gatorade on my bike. The cold towels at the aid station around mile 5 were heavenly! What would you do differently?: I need to run more! Post race
Warm down: Light headed after the finish, the heat really got to me. Just had to sit down and cool off. Jumped in the river and just splashed around. Then just sat for a while. Event comments: FS puts on good races! I've done this race 2 yrs and really like it. Too bad it was so brutally hot. I am looking forward to the 1/2 here in Oct. Last updated: 2011-06-01 12:00 AM

Got into town the night before. Didn't sleep well at the hotel, noisy.
Got transition set up and realized I left my water bottle for the run in the car. Run expected to be hot (94), but I didn't have time to get back to the car (off site parking). Went down to the river and swam a little. River had a funky taste to it, but water was a little cooler than the day before.
