Comments: Not much to say, it was a tight course. I had hoped to be out in the front more but 59th overall isn't too bad and still beat 291 people. (top 16%) My initial reaction was that this wasn't my best performance only because I seemed to have had a bunch of people around me all the time yet I still couldn't draft well. It was a tight course and it seemed like someone was always next to me. What would you do differently?: Not much. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Ouch...wtf? 1:56? I don't really know...I can only think that I seemed slow... What would you do differently?: Pick up the pace. I really need to get this to around 1:00 ![]() Bike
Comments: The weakest of my legs, I went out scrambling for a good feeling. I was going slow on the first half of the first loop thinking its hard and now desperate for that "good" feeling. I looked for flags on peoples homes and and sure enough I/we were heading into a head wind. Ok, just hit the turn and change the 17-18mph to a 21-22 on the way back. After the first corner, I head to the drops and just start hammering. I finally feel good and maintained a 19.5 pace. I was hoping for 20+. ![]() Transition 2
What would you do differently?: Ech. what this shitz... ![]() Run
Comments: Well, I drank too much on the bike cause when I came out of T2 holding a 7:15, my stomach said, "ummm...no." crap! okay hold on and hopefully it goes away. As we ran past the the beach house, I hear the sounds of two groups of bells ringing...clanging and trying to motivate. My 3 dogs also heard them too and were barking insidiously. I am so pissed. I almost ran in the house to try and quiet them. When we hit the turnaround, the headwind turned into a tail wind and all the "breeze" just stopped and the heat just turned on. HR was starting to spike and I just felt bad. I couldn't just get a good run feeling going. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Found the Mrs. who asked if i was ok. I wasn't really but I lied. I think I left most of it on the course. I jumped in the bay and started cooling down. What limited your ability to perform faster: Beer and pizza. Event comments: Being a Stone Harbor shooby for my whole life, this race was really special to me. I hope that I can do it every year. Pretty typical, only a little more relaxed. We were staying at the fam's beach house so the drive time was only 5 min and the "urgency" was that big of a deal. So I woke u at 5:00 ish and drank coffee and ate English muffin and PB.
Aileen was volunteering so after she numbered me, I threw on the wet suit and and swam to the furthest buoy. After about 10 minutes of knocking around in the water I came out of the later and to the song "Pumped up Kicks".
