Swim
Comments: This was a horrible swim for me. My newer goggles were taking in wayter in the left eye. I had to turn over several times and dump the water. Once we got to the first bouy we were swimming directly into the rising sun, I found my self swimming off course several times. At one point I was probably 75 yds off the main pack. This is normally my strongest split. What would you do differently?: Train more OWS--Draft Transition 1
Comments: I forgot to unlace my bike shoes so I spend an extra few seconds unlacing them and putting them on. Mentally, I was a wreck after the swim and T1 What would you do differently?: Be more prepared Bike
Comments: I knew the run was going to be tough so I took it easy. In retrospect, I should not have taken it that easy. My pace was much slower than I expected. I have a new bike computer which I still do not know how to reset; so I didn't know where what kind of pace I was keeping. What would you do differently?: Train harder Transition 2
Comments: This was a good T2. I was quick to get my shoes off and on. Run
Comments: I am not a runner!!! This was the worst run since my first year of TRi's. I was unable to find my watch so I couldn't really pace myself. Believe it or not, I felt good on the first hald of the run and thought my pace was good. I was wrong!!! I refused to walk at all on the steep hill and trail so I kept shuffling forward, There was actually a women right in front of me who was walking and I still couldn't catch her. What would you do differently?: Hill repeats---hill repeats-----hill repeats Post race
Warm down: Walked around and talked with friends What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training and injury. I has surgery on the bottom of my foot 3 weeks prior this race. I had turned my three day recovery into a two week training hiatus. It was my fault for taking this course for granted. Event comments: I love this race and this venue. It has become tradition that I bring my whole family and camp for the weekend. I wish they were able to keep the same courses. This is usually the only OLY distance I do so I am curious how I am progressing over the [ast few years. Every year they seem to change some part of the course. Two years ago it was the run, and this year it was the bike. The tech shirts are great!!! Also, the post-race food was awful. Last updated: 2011-06-02 12:00 AM
