Swim
Comments: No split times at this race!!! Grrr, I wanted to see how I did on the bike split compared to swimming, but now I just don't know really bad with the breathing--possibly undiagnosed breathing issue??? There was little to no panic/anxiety. held onto kayaks twice, and was just DONE. What would you do differently?: keep on moving--ignore the discomfort and just keep going. Transition 1
Comments: not too bad, considering how crappy I felt. I just went through it and did what needed to be done. What would you do differently?: Maybe try cycle shoes without socks... Bike
Comments: Not bad, considering that I was not feeling well breathing-wise...I kept my speed up and managed to pass some people (a first for me). the air quality was also not ideal. My hands were somewhat numb though...Don't know why. What would you do differently?: planned my fueling/drinking better. I had the stuff, it was just hard to reach. Transition 2
Comments: it was hard due to the number of people who were in the transition area---most of them were done with their races, so they were hanging around... What would you do differently?: remove feet from shoes--then get off bike.. Run
Comments: I didn't run that much, my breathing hurt, so I walked as fast as I could, and ran occasionally. What would you do differently?: ignore discomfort and just keep running. Post race
Warm down: walking about, standing in line for food. What limited your ability to perform faster: breathing. My breathing was fairly limited halfway through the swim, and it remained painful/difficult through the rest of the race. My lack of willpower to ignore pain stopped me from performing at my best. Event comments: I wish that all of the facilities/drink booths would have stayed open until the last person had made it in...I really wanted some free Jamba Juice, but they were packing up and leaving! All in all, the race was done well and organized well, I just wished I had performed better. Last updated: 2011-06-04 12:00 AM
