![]() Swim
Comments: This was a really bad swim for me. I was overly nervous from seeing the guy pounded and drug off by the medic. I was also apprehensive because I knew I hadn't been training hard enough for the swim. Plus the waves were especially big today. I heard 4-6 ft and that is what the LA Times reported. What would you do differently?: Train more for the swim and practice open water swims in the ocean ![]() Transition 1
Comments: I felt calm and collected- even though I was breathing awfully hard from the run up the sand and the the sidewalk. I bagged all my belongings and knew exactly where the bike out was. What would you do differently?: More body glide around my ankles. I had a tad bit of trouble getting the suit of around my heels. ![]() Bike
Comments: THe ride wasn't too hard and was pretty comfortable. Mostly flat course but the streets had a lot of rough patches and potholes. I didn't feel all that comfortable with the cornering or turns. Just my lack of riding I believe. Overall, fairly happy with this performance What would you do differently?: I think I just need more time in the saddle. i have just started about 2 months before my race to really get in some good rides. I def. believe my new computer helped and trying to keep my cadence at 85-90. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Happy with T2 transition. I felt like I was in and out pretty quickly. What would you do differently?: Maybe find run out right as I come into transition. I had to ask or yell to someone twice where run out was. T2 was a little bit clustered.. ![]() Run
Comments: I felt really tight the first 2 miles. I walked at least a 1/4 of the mile up the big hill on Grand. As did alot of peeps. Finally after 2.25 I loosened up a little. I wasn't dying by any means and wasn't sure where the last mile or mile and half was as I wanted to push harder at the end. What would you do differently?: Definitely more bricks are in store. I don't think I've done a single brick workout within 2-3 months of the race. Know the race course so I can push harder within the last mile or mile and a half. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Lots of water and stretching. Talking to a few friend that raced and picked up my bike and went to shower. Should of done a cool down run.. What limited your ability to perform faster: Seriously not enough training Event comments: Great race. They could of used a few more volunteers at finish and the construction of start and finish and transition was a little hampered by construttion. But overall it is such a fun race. Riding the closed streets are cool, starting at venice is neat and the run thru downtown with all the sights, way cool. Can't wait til next year. Last updated: 2006-04-14 12:00 AM

Woke up at 5:15 and ate a banana and half of an energy bagel. Dressed and drove to the race site. Found parking really easily and took bag and bike to transition
Stretched and went into the water- no swimming though.
