Pre-race routine:

Nothing spectacular, pre pack car and review checklist the night before. Woke up before alarm and headed out. Arrived at race, checked in, got marked and then went to get gear to set up transition area.
Event warmup:

None, Waited until -30 min to put on wetsuit, listen to racer meeting and then went to water to get wet, met a few other BT racers! Very cool to see them.
Swim
  • 13m 30s
  • 820 yards
  • 01m 39s / 100 yards
Comments:

The swim was fine, I need to build my distance up in OWS. Sighting was fine but a few times I did have to break my swimm to catch my breath, relax and find a new line.
What would you do differently?:

Borrowed wetsuit, need to get my own so I am more comfortable in it. Also need to think about position around bouys and get used to swimming with lots of friends.
Transition 1
  • 03m 29s
Comments:

walked out of water into T1. to catch my breath. Actual T1 time is listed but add 2 min from water to timing pads. This wetsuit is imposible to remove on the fly due to it being small for me.
What would you do differently?:

Train enough so I can actually run out of water to T1. Get different wetsuit that fits, and can be removed faster! No socks!
Bike
  • 41m 14s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 18.09 mile/hr
Comments:

Rode Mt Bike. Tried to pace so I did not wear out legs knowing a run was next.
What would you do differently?:

More TIS!!! Figure out way to get lower and bump ave speed to 20mph.
Transition 2
  • 01m 43s
Comments:

Entered just fine racked bike, took helmet off, switched shoes, tied shoes and took a drink of water. Almost went out the wrong way.
What would you do differently?:

Rehearse transition, Speed laces?
Run
  • 30m 49s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 55s  min/mile
Comments:

Oh my!! my legs and mind were not feeling the run. I was hoping for 7:45 min pace. Could not get into a sustained run. When I did run I would pass people without much problem. But I walked a lot and slowly ran more and farther but I am disapointed in this performance. However, the last 150 was a nice kick into finish as I refused to let another person pass me.
What would you do differently?:

Other than actually being able to run? RUN!
Post race
Warm down:

drank some water and ate food, after about 20 min packed up my stuff and then went to talk with the BT clan as others continued to race and finish.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training at distance and effort. OWS, TIS, and miles. I figured T1 T2 would be slow but I can easily pick up speed there.

Event comments:

The race went well. T storm the night before made them work a little but they recovered and put on a good race.
