Swim
Comments: Swim went well. One girl swam over me in the first 200m, other than that there was no contact. I found a pair of feet to follow on the return trip and managed to stay there until we climbed out of the water. What would you do differently?: Get more swim training down. My fastest Oly swim was 2 min faster when I was consistent with training. Transition 1
Comments: Transition went really fast and I was in and out quickly. I was a little annoyed with the wetsuit getting stuck but what do you do? What would you do differently?: Lube up the ankles even more. Bike
Comments: Bike started out well and I was keeping a good pace. Half way through the 1st lap I saw a girl on the side of the road at the bottom of one of the steeper hills. I hollered out and asked if she had everything. She said no so I stopped and gave her the tool she needed. I got back on my bike after a couple minutes stopped and got up to speed. The second two laps were uneventful and I passed a few people that passed me while I was stopped. What would you do differently?: Nothing. I did this bike course 1 month ago but it was only 2 laps. My bike was slower then (average MPH). I was thrilled to improve on my speed with 3 laps even with a stop. Transition 2
Comments: Transition went well. I was in and out quickly. I had lubed up the back of my shoes and getting them on and preventing blisters worked really well. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: The run went well. This run course is challenging enough to stay interesting with the hills. I managed to pass a couple of women on the run, one in the last half mile. I was really worries that once I passed she would pick up and chase me down but she didn't. What would you do differently?: More run training Post race
Warm down: I walked around and grabbed a banana and some water. The girl I had loaned the tool to found me and returned it thanking me for stopping. I went back to transition and packed my gear and took it to the car. I stopped by the results before I left and saw that they had me listed in 3rd place. I was really excited that I had placed so I decided to change and wait around for awards. I got a medal and a chance to actually stand on the podium, turns out the updated results the next day show me in 4th place ... still a PR for me, I'll take it. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training Event comments: This is a good local race, I would come back again. Last updated: 2011-06-06 12:00 AM

Had a bagel with peanut butter and a banana before heading out to the race site. Registered then set up transition and headed over to the start.
I jogged a little then pulled my wetsuit on and swam out to the far bouy and back a couple times to get the blood flowing.
