Swim
Comments: The water was just too cold for me. I couldn't get my breathing or strokes right. My strokes were short and chopping and I breathed every two strokes. I swallowed a ton of water when I was beside someone with some massive kicks. When I felt the temp my goal was not to allow people from the wave behind me pass me in the water. I did that but they passed me in transition. What would you do differently?: Not sure. Get used to cold water? Take ice baths? Transition 1
Comments: Was feeling sick from the water drinking during the swim. Just couldn't get my legs under me. What would you do differently?: Not drink lake water. Bike
Comments: Couldn't drink anything on the course. Normally I recover on the bike and am able to hammer it pretty well. This time my stomach never settled and I could take in any fluids. Lucky for me it was a cool day. Wanted to average 18. Was FAR off the pace. What would you do differently?: Don't drink the lake water. Not that it was something I wanted to do. It just happened. Transition 2
Comments: My transition area looked like it was hit by a small tornado. Maybe it was. The conditions were right for one. It took me a while to collect my stuff. Plus racer 165 took my belt. Perhaps he tossed my stuff looking for his belt and found mine. Anyway I took his and left. What would you do differently?: Better organized so my stuff is not close to another person's stuff. Run
Comments: Still wasn't feeling well but was able to keep an ok pace. Saw my racebelt on racer 165 and made the exchange. Overall I felt sick the entire time but was happy with the time considering the bad day I was having. What would you do differently?: Not sure was still sick from lake water. Post race
Warm down: Went and threw up. Instantly felt better. Grabbed a sandwich and decided I couldn't eat anything. What limited your ability to perform faster: The bad swim led to a bad day overall. Event comments: The roads were in bad shape but the rest was ok. Not sure if I will go back to the event. The water was too cold for me. At least I finished. Last updated: 2011-06-07 12:00 AM

Got up at 5:00 to get packed and grab a coke. Did the race pick up from the night before so I just needed the chip and markings.
No warm up. Just put on the wetsuit and tried to get used to the cold water. It was just too cold for me.
