Swim
Comments: swim very good, lots of clear water What would you do differently?: strengthen pull Transition 1
Comments: t1 inc 400 run up hill to transition which was hard What would you do differently?: when removing garmin 310xt from quick release and holding in mouth caught lap button so moved to bike (very inconvenient). look to leave garmin on bike and set to multisport bike stage ready. 27th Bike
Comments: need to improve on speed, this is where I lost most of my time What would you do differently?: just improve my speed vasaline shoe entry as I struggled to get the shoe on properly. Transition 2
Comments: shoe lock laces were not quite tight enough so stopped before exit of t2 to tighten. no more than 10 secs What would you do differently?: prepare shoes better Run
Comments: felt great, just right pacing but maybe could have picked it up by a small amount. What would you do differently?: nothing Post race
Warm down: basically eat loads and drive home What limited your ability to perform faster: stength work on bike and maybe speed work on run. also currently training of Ironman in July so have been doing long sessions so legs not as fresh as could be. Event comments: as I was the last race of the weekend everyone was packing away when I finished. Also no goody bag, no t-shirt just a medal, cant they do any better than that. Also no prizes for positions, as I came 3rd in my age group for the first time it would have been nice to receive something. Last updated: 2011-06-08 12:00 AM

As it was such a late start I got up at a very reasonable 8.30.
breakfast and load car.
set off 10.00 got them 11.45 (queues into Blenheim).
reccied the transition and the course (as much as you can see), none of the hills were visable from viewing points.
Could see the swim course main bouys were not in a straight line so aimed to head slightly to headland before last bouy.
memorised bike position in transition.
hydrate, wetsuit on, set to start 30 mins before, stretch. race brief, in warm a few strokes to get used to water temp (race brief said 14 deg but it was warmer than that).
