Total Time = 3h 36m 40s
Overall Rank = 206/210
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 26/26
Pre-race routine:

Up early. Ate 2 pieces of wheat toast with peanut butter and one banana. Drank sports drink. DIDN'T STRETCH.
Event warmup:

Got my transition area in place. Walked down to the water and tried to settle down a bit.
Swim
  • 49m 30s
  • 1640 yards
  • 03m 01s / 100 yards
Comments:

Should have swam in OW before the race. Terrible decision on my part thinking I could keep my calm for only the second time in a wetsuit and first time in open water.
What would you do differently?:

practice with wetsuit and OWS.
Transition 1
  • 05m 2s
Comments:

Not sure what took so long here. I was at the other end of the entrance and I walked a bit so I guess that killed time. Putting on my shorts, shirt, shoes and helmet took too long as well.
What would you do differently?:

Run to the bike. Use tri shorts next time and tri top as well to minimize clothes changing. Bike shoes would have been nice too, or some zip laces.
Bike
  • 1h 36m 29s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 15.45 mile/hr
Comments:

Nice bike course I thought, although I haven't done many bike races.
What would you do differently?:

I thought this was my strongest leg, but the time didn't show it. I have to work more on hills.
Transition 2
  • 01m 50s
Comments:

Easy transition as I only had to take off my helmet and fanny pack and put on my race bib. Thought it went well.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing I can think of.
Run
  • 1h 03m 50s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 10m 17s  min/mile
Comments:

Just too tired to run well. I need better conditioning. This should have been my strongest leg and wasn't.
What would you do differently?:

Train more on hills. It will only make me better.
Post race
Warm down:

Chocolate milk, grapes and oranges were very good. Played with the kids and just enjoyed my family and friends being there.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training. I wasn't in as good of shape as I thought I was.

Event comments:

I thought it was well run and the competitors were fantastic. Happy and encouraging people are the best.
