Swim
Comments: The start required us to tread water for around 5 minutes. What would you do differently?: I would have worked on navigation a lot more. I did a lot of zig zagging. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: After coming out of the water 5th to last, I came off the bike in the middle of the pack. Transition 2
What would you do differently?: I about crashed running down into the transition area. In the future I will test that out more closely prior to the race. Run
Comments: I passed several people on the run and was only passed by a father/daughter combo. What would you do differently?: I really should have pushed more on the run. I kept it slow because I was afraid of the hills. I should have been able to keep about a 9:00 mile pace. Post race
Warm down: I did nothing for a cool-down. Ate half a banana and a small gatorade. What limited your ability to perform faster: My fear of the course and poor navigation on the swim were my limiting factors. I knew both of these were going to be a problem. Due to the location of the race, it was not feasible to preview the course ahead of time. Event comments: This was a fun race. The race could be improved by having a stronger pre-race meeting. I observed many people blocking on the bike course. This was understandable since we were not given a good explanation of the rules. The volunteer support on this race was oustanding. I have never seen so many volunteers with big smiles on their faces. Last updated: 2006-04-16 12:00 AM

Ate breakfast at T-4 hours: 12 oz Powerade, 1 banana, 1 PB Power Bar, 1 Chocolate Boost.
Headed to Georgetown at T-3:15. Arrived at T-1:30.
I discovered a bad valve on my front tube and had to replace that. By the time I got to the transition area it was T-0:50 and they were urging people to load onto the boats to go to the start area.
I took a jog up to the bathroom and back, then took my bike for a spin to make sure everything was operational. After being transported across the lake to the start area, I sat in the shade for about 20 min. I got no warmup swim.
