Pre-race routine:

Woke up around 4. Had egg salad and toast (not sure why I went with egg salad), and checked the weather. 90% chance of thunderstorms all morning. Thought about going back to bed. Decided to make the drive.

This was a horrible swim! I thought I got in the front of the wave. There were a couple people in front of me but they were slow and for some reason, I couldn't get around them.
What would you do differently?:

Be in the front. Try harder to move around people. I'm too polite on the swim :)

There was mud and puddles everywhere. Running my bike out was tough. My bike shoes were soaked and kind of hard to get on.

Train more. Not be such a wimp with wet roads and downhills.

My running shoes were SOAKED. It was really hard to get them on. Ran through a giant mud puddle on the way out, shoes filled with mud.
What would you do differently?:

Bring socks. Put my shoes in a plastic bag.

My shoes were wet and felt like they weighed 10 pounds each. The wet shoes and no socks lead to some painful rubbing on the back of my heel. I thought I was having a horrible run. I didn't feel good and was a little depressed I kept getting passed. I ran 9:21/mile which is good for me. I'll take it.
What would you do differently?:

Put shoes in a bag. bring socks.

This was a fun race. I'm sure if it wasn't thundering and pouring rain it would have been much better. Maybe next year.

Course: Out and back. It was shortened to 11 miles due to flooding on the course. The road wasn't closed to traffic so we were on the shoulder. It wasn't a big deal but there was some debris on the shoulder due to all the rain.
