Swim
Comments: I strongly prefer a time trial start vs a wave start. It was complete mayhem in the water for the first 200 yards. Got kicked, bumped, and hit in the face several times. However, I did my share of kicking and bumping too. Just the nature of the beast I guess. After about 200 yards, the race thinned out. The water temp was great. The lake was very clean, too. What would you do differently?: I did not get out hard or fast enough. I was holding a pace for a 1500M race. I should have gone all out right from the start. Just power thru the 600 yards as fast as possible. I always approach the swim very conservatively. That was mistake in this race. Should have gone out hard right away. Transition 1
Comments: I can save time here by getting sockless bike shoes. I always spend too much time getting my feet dry and socks on. No matter how much I dry my feet, the socks always get stuck. What would you do differently?: Get sockless bike shoes and practice getting the shoes on while I'm riding. Bike
Comments: Even though my time was not all that great, this is the best I have felt on the bike since I've been doing tri's. I felt good at the beginning, fatigued in the middle, then got a second wind at the end. I felt like I broke 20 mph for the race. Was disappointed that I did not even break 19 mph. However, I am still encouraged about how good I felt towards the end of the ride. What would you do differently?: I can improve on this leg of the race the most. I've contacted a coach to help me. Transition 2
Comments: Spend too much time here messing with getting bike shoes off and running shoes on. Need to get sockless bike shoes so I can get them off at the end of the ride. What would you do differently?: Practice riding with feet on top of the bike shoes. Run
Comments: Felt great on the run. Hit my best time yet for a tri - 6:50 mile. Finished 17 out 144 in the run. Very happy with it. What would you do differently?: Try to get my legs under me earlier in the race. Do more bike to run training. Post race
Warm down: Walking around, drinking water, enjoying the post race food, etc. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not being aggressive enough on the swim - my pace was more suited for a 1500M. Too slow for only a 600 yard swim - my own fault. Not devoting enough traning to the bike. Event comments: This was a great race. Well organized, a lot of voluteers, good post race drinks and food. I was do this race again next year. Last updated: 2011-06-13 12:00 AM

Got up early - 3:30. On the road by 4:15, got there by 5:30. Since I have never been to this race before I wanted to leave plently of time. I did have plenty of time. Got checked in, body marked, transition set up by 6:00. The race did not start until 7:45. I had a lot of time to kill but I ended up liking that. Got orienated to transition, checked out the swim course, etc. I'm going to get to every race this early from now on.
Nothing.
