Swim
Comments: I normally don't like going behind all the men because it normally means I get the crap kicked out of me and hit in the nose. This time I stayed close to the buoys as I noticed most of the male waves were hanging out closer to the rocks. I didn't get hit once! It felt good not to have bruises after the race. :) What would you do differently?: Stay warm before the start. It took about a 600 for feeling to come back to my finger tips. Transition 1
Comments: Unsure of transition times. It felt fast. I had a good spot in transition. I was on my bike and on my way pretty quickly. What would you do differently?: I need to practice getting into my aero helmet better. It's so tight and I put on my glasses first, so they got caught on my ears. I forgot to tighten the back of my helmet. Bike
Comments: I love this course! It has a perfect balance of climbs and descents. I rode the course on Saturday and felt like I may have pushed it too hard because my legs felt shot on Sunday, but I'm pleased with my pace. I was aiming for over 20 and managed 21.2. My legs were burning from the training mileage the week prior. What would you do differently?: Be sure to close my brakes before the race. :) Transition 2
Comments: Times were included in bike time, I think. What would you do differently?: Nothing. It went pretty smooth. Run
Comments: Well... Last year I ran this race with an injury, so it was better than last year, but I'm not where I want to be with my run. There is a little gravel hill before the last out and back. I walked up it go get some water, and in a sprint there is really no reason to walk... I've got to work on mental toughness. What would you do differently?: Not walk up the little hill. Post race
Warm down: Loaded up the bikes before it started storming. Took a few Hammer Tissue Rejuvenator capsules. Went back to the pavilion to enjoy awesome post-race food! What limited your ability to perform faster: I'd say the swim and bike were as fast as I could do on that given day. The run still needs some work. Event comments: This is my second year at this race, and I love it! The bike course is absolutely my favorite. The run was marked much better this year than last year. The aid station is set up on the run where you go through it three times. That's awesome for a 5K! If you do this race, be sure to eat a meal at The Brick Oven. It's awesome Italian food, and it's very inexpensive. Last updated: 2011-06-14 12:00 AM

Ate a banana, drank some water, took two Hammer endurolytes even though it was overcast. I didn't want to cramp like Kansas 70.3. I set up my transition area a little differently at this race. I left my race belt clipped and over my bike shoes, so I could step into it. This saved a few seconds, I think.
Swam the full course and then froze before the race start. I need to remember to bring a sweat shirt or something. This happens at every race! My fingers were blue by the time I started.
