Pre-race routine:

Got up @ 0400 after working till 2300 the night before. I think I got to bed around 0001 in the morning so I had no sleep. Had a bowl of vector and some cheerios to start the day. Then I waited for my friend to come and pick me up. Got picked up aroun 444 and was off to the major metropolis of Vancouver. We found parking pretty quickly. It was great to be so close to the start. We then headed in to BC place and checked in our gear at the gear check. @ 0630 I ate a Power bar and drank a couple more glasses of water. Then We waited in the lines for the bathroom.
Event warmup:

Just a few stretches to get out the kinks and then we found the 4:15 Pace bunny.

Comments:

I did this race with my friend. We decided that we would try and beat Oprah and P Diddy. As you can see with our half times we were on pace for a 4:14 race as the Half for us was 2 mins fast. 3:14 @ 20miles and we were ready for a 1 hour 10k. It was going great, then my friend started to have this pain in his knee. We walked most of the last 10k and finished it off with a 1:20 or so 10k. OUCH. He was great though, I kept him moving, he realy wanted me to keep going and get my time but I told him we started together and we will finish together. I pushed him to walk the course a bit faster, I said dont ruin this by walking slow. So I picked him up and we ran every once in awhile to get better and then walk then run. We finished strong! I was so proud. We saluted the crowd and got our medals.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe when we line up with the 4:15 Pace Bunny, stay with the bunny when they walk.
Post race
Warm down:

We walked to BC Place Kept moving got our gear and finishing shirt. Then to the food court. Got a ton of food and water and juice and doughnuts.
It was a good spread. Walked a bit more and stretched out. Hit the showers and headed out.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My Friends Knee.

Event comments:

This was a great race. The Volunteers were great. Lots of music. People are so into running and fitness in Vancouver that they line the streets and cheer you on. This being our first official Marathon, I can say we did a great job. We beat our training Marathon time by 15 mins.

Course: A scenic course around Vancovuer Downtown. IT takes you right through some of the scumiest areas in Downtown Vancouver. I got to see some of my old Clients @ the soup kitchen. Then it goes through Stanly park which was some of my favorite parts of the run.
