Swim
Comments: Fairly good swim. Passed one swimmer after 100 yards and then had an open lane the rest of the way. What would you do differently?: Still need to concentrate on holding my form. Stretch our farther and engage my back muscles more. Transition 1
Comments: The transition area was too crowded. They need to enlarge it in the future or restrict the size of the field. Being in the back section it was difficult getting out and getting back in from the bike. Update: The Race Director says that they are already working on a better transition area for next year! What would you do differently?: Put down a faster swim time and hope to get a better spot in transition. Bike
Comments: I went a little too hard on the swim and suffered in the beginning of the bike. Generally I tried to go hard down the hills and have momentum going back up. I got stuck behind someone on the long hill on Marvin and I didn't want to waste the energy needed to pass. Once on Old Audrey Kell I took off again. Dropped one of my bike shoes upon dismounting and had to stop to pick it up. What would you do differently?: I need to get more confidence on the downhill sections and take advantage of them. I also need more time in the saddle with longer rides. Transition 2
Comments: I had to weave through bikes in transition and that slowed me a bit. Overall better than T1. What would you do differently?: Keep practicing mounting and dismounting with my shoes on the bike. Run
Comments: Felt OK. Only mistake was pouring Gatorade on my head when I thought it was water, oops! I can still get faster. What would you do differently?: Just need to keep running and I know I'll improve. Post race
Warm down: Walked around and drank some water and ate a banana. Later I had some pizza and a Pepsi. Cheered in some of the other runners. What limited your ability to perform faster: I just need to train more. I'm improving. Event comments: The Ballantyne area is beautiful and the Morrison YMCA is a fantastic facility. I can't wait for next year to come back. Last updated: 2011-06-17 12:00 AM

Got to the race site early (Probably the 3rd or 4th racer there) and got a spot in transition. Ate a Cliff Bar for breakfast and went to body marking and got my timing chip. Sat at the back of my SUV with the back open and watched the rain. Fortunately the rain stopped just before race time. Put my tri suit on and took a gel while I waited around. Went to get in line for the swim and realized I didn't have my chip on. Oops!
Jogged a bit and did some stretching.
