Swim
Comments: A great swim for me...would have been faster if we could dive in, but had to lower into the water. Felt good and didn't feel that I was working hard to go to go this fast. Transition 1
Comments: don't have times yet but felt very fast. Socks and shoes on quickly a small drink and I was off. Bike
Comments: Was very concerned about this bike course coming in as I don't have hills of this caliber near where I ride. I planned on trying to attack the course as best I could...and I did. Overall a very rewarding ride and great course. Hit speeds of 35+mph on some of the decents. Passed 8-10 people on the bike and was never passed. Overall I was very pleased with this ride and can't wait to do it again. What would you do differently?: Train on hills and longer rides Transition 2
Comments: Got stick behind someone walking bike through long channel to transition and this slowed me down some. Didn't have to change my shoes so basically just removed helmet put on belt and went. Should have waited the extra minute for my breathing to recover. What would you do differently?: Spent another few minutes to recover more before attempting this run. Run
Comments: Here is where it really fell apart for me. I never got my breathing under control after the bike and it plagued me throughout the first half of the run. My lack of hill training also really showed up here. I just had nothing left at this point and had to walk several times even if only a short distance. Also (although really should not complain) the weather had been overcast and pleasant until I started my run. Then the sun came out and the heat was also a factor for me...lots of people were walking on the course. Passed 1 or 2 and got passed once, but I really had hoped to do better here. What would you do differently?: Train hills and work on breathing Post race
Warm down: Tons of water and walking to cool down.Really had to use the bathroom and ran there straight from the finish. This is due to too much drinking on and before the course What limited your ability to perform faster: As I get better on the new road bike and build up my run stamina I think I could be pretty competetive at Only my second triathlon (first one last fall and much easier)...I will definitely be here again. Event comments: Great small race and lots of fun Last updated: 2011-06-19 12:00 AM

Woke up around 4:30 and ate a yogurt and coffee on the way to the race. I had a late start time so didn't eat my standard PB & J whole wheat bagel until I got there. Drank a gatorade and water while watching others race. In hind sight probably drank too much.
Waled around and watched other competitors. They ended up moving my start time up 30 minutes.
