Pre-race routine:

Stayed in Seward, didnt get up til about 9:20. Having stayed overnight in Seward we stayed up and watched the fireworks then I really dont get to sleep until just b4 2am when I am 95% sure the teenagers with me are in and safe.
Anyway got up, ate a banana and drank coffee. Duct tape (used hot pink) my shoes, grab a water bottle and head out the door.
Event warmup:

Ran up and down the streets of Seward chatting with other runners and just getting my legs and lungs working a little b4 the start.

Comments:

I hate the start bcuz it kind of places you on the mountain and I dont want to sprint to the base. This year I did a little better staying with the front of the pack. Made it a few less butts to pass on the way up. I dont like passing anyone on the climb unless I can stay ahead of them. It worked out pretty well.
Timed the uphill at 50:35 and the downhill at 17:10. Was hoping the downhill would be closer to 15.
The downhill was pretty hard, the shale wasnt as soft as it was during our training run so I wasnt as relaxed going down.

What would you do differently?:

Just try to go harder. Mentally I need to keep myself moving.
Post race
Warm down:

Stayed in the finish area until the other Trionic women came in. It was great to see them finish. Then headed back to the apartment to shower and then watch the mens race.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

As always, I would like to train more on the mountain. Or a mountain. Get those mountain legs going!
