Age Group Rank = 18/20
Pre-race routine:

This was my first tri. I set up transition, drank some G2, and waited.
Event warmup:

N/A - I thought about warming up, but with the swim being one at a time and my start being an hour after the race start, any warm-up would be lost.
Swim
  • 06m 44s
  • 383 yards
  • 01m 46s / 100 yards
Comments:

I expected around 7 minutes and beat that.
What would you do differently?:

Start sooner.
Transition 1
  • 02m 10s
Comments:

When I jumped out of the pool, I almost went the wrong way. Thankfully, someone pointed me in the right direction. Biggest issue was getting my shirt on. I decided only to dry my feet. Being wet caused some issues getting my shirt on.
What would you do differently?:

Try something different with my shirt.
Bike
  • 42m 6s
  • 12 miles
  • 17.10 mile/hr
Comments:

I hadn't practiced the swim to run transition and was out of breath for the first few miles of the bike. Once I caught my breath, I felt much better. Didn't expect I'd do it as fast as I did.
What would you do differently?:

Practice this transition more.
Transition 2
  • 00m 27s
Comments:

I didn't use bike shoes, so this transition was quick. Someone in front of me slowed me down on the run to my rack. After that, I just had to take off my helmet and grab my headband.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 36m 24s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 11m 42s  min/mile
Comments:

I was tired after the swim run. I walked more than I hoped. It felt longer than 3.1 miles. When I hit the first mile marker, I wasn't sure if I had completed a mile or had one mile left. Realized it was the former when I saw mile marker number 2. Had some encouragement at the end. I was suprised with my time though. I must have made up for the walking when I ran. I did a 5k in mid-June and this was only about 10 seconds slower.
What would you do differently?:

Train on the actual course. I didn't train for hills at all and this had some small hills.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked a little and enjoyed the free breakfast.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of endurance for the run.

Event comments:

This was my first and I enjoyed it. I plan to try an open water swim; I expect that I will prefer it. When the race start comes around, I want to start rather than wait for an hour.
