Pre-race routine:

up at 4:45 at campsite; got dressed, roused the fam, threw stuff in our car. HUsband was racing the half, going off for his wave at 8:55.
Event warmup:

had about five mins to set up in transition, got to beach, lined up, started. No time to wait.

One comment or note- the run to transition is included in this time and holy crap was that a long run. UP a hill, across a parking lot, the into T1. Ran it hard, too.

clipping in is always hard for me. good T2, felt like I was forgetting something but I wa snot. Race belt on, number on back for Bike. remembered that part which made me happy. socks wet and full of grass and sand.

AWESOME race. Not sure they will keep this sprint as it is done before the half starts, and it truly gets way too hot out there for them to start the half so late.

Course: short course, rocky start and that was hidden. went down hard on something in arch of rt foot, foot hurt rest of swim and half of bike, thought I cut it, looks more like a giant bruise. absolutely could not see heading into shore, followed everyone. by far one of my best OWS.

Course: HILLY. Took me about halfway through to figure out how to ride the rolling hills but once I did, I was doing much better. Learning experience, very happy with the bike. a flat course would have been faster but again, VERY HAPPY. was doing up to 27 on the down hills and did well on the ups.
