![]() Swim
Comments: The water was very shallow and hard to stay on track - I kept floating away from the buoys even though I was swimming toward them What would you do differently?: Do at least one open water swim before my first triathlon, practice running and the dolphin in the water ahead of time. Stay more relaxed - I couldn't breathe for part of it. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: I had a really long transition time - trying to get everything on and catching my breath from the swim. I had to stop to get on the bike and clip in. What would you do differently?: Practice my transition so I have more of a routine. Practice getting in & out of my pedals while moving. ![]() Bike
Comments: I did really well on the bike segment - had an energy bar while biking and made myself drink a whole bottle of water - which made the run much easier! I biked faster than I have biked in training. I passed alot of people, which made up for the bad swim. I could have probably biked faster, but didn't want to be dead on the run. What would you do differently?: Train at a faster pace and practice getting out of my shoes while moving on the bike. Remember to put on my HRM, not just my Polar watch. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Not too bad, I messed around for a while trying to get everything together. What would you do differently?: Practice getting out of my shoes while riding. Practice my transitions. ![]() Run
Comments: The run went well. I couldn't tell how fast I was running at first because my legs were jello, but picked up the pace after about 5 minutes. I tried drinking a glass of powerade from the water station but it ended up all over my face! What would you do differently?: Do more bike-run brick training. Don't drink powerade while running. Stick to water - pour it on my head. Remember my HRM - I think it would've helped, especially at the start of the run! ![]() Post race
Warm down: Walked over to my BTers and waited for Steve to come in - he was 2 waves behind me. What limited your ability to perform faster: Practicing transitions. I need to train at a faster pace on the swim, bike, and run. Event comments: The race overall was well run. The volunteers and police were very helpful and cheered us on! This was a great race for first-timers! They had lots and lots of food and powerade afterwards! Last updated: 2006-04-17 12:00 AM

Up at 5:45am, left at 6am, ate bagel with peanut butter on the way to the site, walked my bike & stuff to the transition area, set up, waited for the rain/thunderstorm to pass. Found out I had forgotten my HRM.
Walked around in the lake for a minute.
