Swim
Comments: The swim went very well ... I started inside the pool at was able to pass 3 slower swimmers about half way through and I must have passed at least 3-5 more before getting out of the pool. Would have been able to go faster but got stuck behind someone without a good chance of passing. What would you do differently?: Push of the walls better ... not sure how much more time I will be able to shave off before the Monster Triathlon on Oct. 16th. Transition 1
Comments: I got out of the pool and in transition pretty fast. Took a few pointers from the Tri Clinic the day before. Getting my feet dry and into the socks and in my shoes took me a while. It also took forever to get the heartrate monitor on. Helmet, Sweatband and Sunglasses went on fine. What would you do differently?: I think I can get through this transition a lot faster if I practice the transition multiple times before the next race. Layout of the shoes and socks very important... Bike
Comments: As soon as I got on the bike my lower back started aching from the coffee that I had in the morning. There was some decent headwind around mile 6 ... On some stretches I went down to almost 10mph due to the headwind. What would you do differently?: Racers passed me left and right. There is a lot that I can change on the bike. I need more Bike practice and also won't be able to get much better without a better bike. I hope to be able to shave off another 5-7 minutes on another 12 mile bike ride. Next race is going to be 16 miles. Transition 2
Comments: Transition 2 went very smooth ... What would you do differently?: Nothing I would change here ... Run
Comments: Overall a good run but had stomach cramps towards the end ... What would you do differently?: No more coffee before the race ... Post race
Warm down: Slowly walked after the race What limited your ability to perform faster: Not hydrated enough ... no more coffee before the race ... Event comments: The race was very well put together. I think the running portion was less than 3 miles but otherwise very organized event. Last updated: 2011-06-23 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4.30am and had a cup of coffee and a bottle water. Checked the bike once again and verified that it was all aired up. Had a 190 Calories Slim Fast for pre-race nutrition.
Walking a little bit and stretching some. Did not warm up too much as I thought the swim would be warm up enough.
