Swim
Comments: it was hard to figure out what was going on. The equipment was being put back in the trucks so there wasn't a microphone or way to communicate loudly to the group. They used the police sirens to round everybody up for the start. Were going to start in one minute increments according to wave time, but then at the last minute decided to do a mass start at 7:45am. What would you do differently?: nothing - - - just a fun training run today - - lost my shoe in a mud bog. lol. just stopped and put it back on! held tight to the shoes after that. Transition 1
Comments: probably one of my fastest transitons :) - just ran from the run in to the bike out! What would you do differently?: nada Bike
Transition 2
Comments: oh wait - this is actually my fastest transition - - -I even passed someone in transition - she was running too slow, took a different isle between the bike racks and beat her to the run out. Run
Comments: perfect planning - took my gel at 4 mile mark, feeling great! I had found my forever pace and was just thinking "fast feet, pick up your feet, fast feet" breathing was nice and steady. After the 4 mile, start to pick up the pace (I only have 2 miles left, woo hoo!), at the turn around, I only have 1 mile left; pick up the pace again. Started passing people, lots of them (??). I am suprised when I catch up to Leslie (she was way ahead of me). I want to really see what I can do in this race - - encourage her to keep pushing, stay with me. Pass a guy who is having major hamstring pains and keeps grabbing his leg and hobbling - ouch! Tell Leslie, let's DO this! I can see the finish line and take off, sprinting the last 100 yards or so. Strong finish! What would you do differently?: maybe focus a little better at the start. I was just going to have fun and enjoy, but after passing people, the competitiveness in me sorta took over and then I wanted to see how many people I could pass......gosh, if I had done this from the start, what would my time have been? Post race
Warm down: keep walking - look for soda - -none! yep, same as last year. Went to my car and got a coke from my cooler. I need sugar and caffeine after one of these races. What limited your ability to perform faster: weather, challenging trail conditions Event comments: too bad mother nature did not cooperate. in spite of the weather, I had a good time. It's nice to feel like a kid again, splashing through the mud puddles and getting completely soaked and full of mud!!! Last updated: 2011-06-24 12:00 AM
